This year I decided to try my luck getting shots of fireworks up close instead of going to see one of the pro fireworks shows in town. So I walked around Kalihi for most of the night and found a couple of places that were launching aerial fireworks in the street. Overall, I’d say it was a lot more fun than dealing with the crowds in Waikiki or paying to get into one of the big NYE parties.
New Year’s Eve in Hawaii. Not as much fireworks as before, but there’s other kinds of entertainment.
This past New Year’s Eve was more fun than I’ve had in years. Firstly, Eat the Street was the perfect fit for a super block party. Kakaako Waterfront Park is the ideal location for a party that size in town. And last but not least, the weather remained dry even when it didn’t look so promising in the afternoon.
